Frances Moore Lappe, my friend and inspiration, has done it again. In her new book, Eco Mind: Changing the Way We Think, to Create The World We Want, she succeeds in summarizing many of our society’s ills and suggesting real solutions. She calls herself a “possibilist” because she sees and clearly describes what is possible, even when things seem so bleak. I urge all of our friends to read this book and share it with your friends. We were very proud to have Frances speak at our 2010 Annual Benefit.

I am also honored that Frances writes about Growing Home in this book. She describes our work: “Growing Home is showing how urban farming can change not only individuals but communities…” (p. 140) It is very exciting to be among the possible solutions that Frances describes.

In a world where we are bombarded every day with bad news, it is refreshing to read about and think about the real solutions that our available to make positive changes in our communities and in our world.
