Two years ago, I started volunteering at Growing Home’s Les Brown Farm in Marseilles because I wanted to learn about organic farming. I also wanted to help because I believe we need fresh and healthy options in our food choices. Over these last couple of years, I have learned about vegetables that I had never heard of, such as bok choy. I have learned when and how to plant garlic. I was taught what a scape is and how to use it. I have learned what hard work farming is. Not that I did not already know this, but it is often only by doing that we really learn something.
